MAKING CHOICES
At this stage many students, when asked to make a choice, will respond by repeating the last thing you offer. For example, when asking students, âDo you want to color with a marker or with a crayon?â they are most likely to answer âcrayon.â You can alternate the order, and if the answer is still âcrayon,â this is clearly what was wanted. If, however, on the second try the student says âmarker,â then this is where the visual support (either the actual objects or pictures of them) must be offered to determine the studentâs preference.
